Union Creek Campground Hosts
Both Sven and Joan have extensive experience in the travel industry with many years specializing in cruise ships. Having grown up in Norway, Sven worked for Norwegian Cruise Lines for 10 years. Joan grew up in Long Beach.
With fond memories of traveling in Oregon and time spent camping at Gold Beach on the coast, they were excited to see the position open up for Union Creek, especially as they also have a godson living in Oregon. They spend the winter months on the Colorado River between California and Arizona, enjoying friendships and outdoor activities.
Avid campers and outdoor enthusiasts, Sven and Joan love to kayak, hike and more. They first hosted at Strawberry Reservoir in Utah for two years, where they had a lot of fun meeting new people and being outdoors each day.
They’ve traveled extensively, camping at the Grand Tetons, Alaska and more. When asked what their favorite animal was in Oregon, they said “Bear” and recounted an excursion in an air boat near Gold Beach where they came around a bend and were surprised to see a black bear on the Rogue River.
Sven and Joan relayed that patience and consideration for others is key to working well with people. With his background in working on cruise ships and Joan’s background in travel as well, they’re confident they’ll enjoy helping campers have a wonderful camping experience at Union Creek.
Next time you camp at Union Creek, make sure to say “hello” to Sven, Joan, and Toby, their 7-year-old Schnauzer-Poodle mix. “Toby loves to camp!”, said Joan.
